Jesse's nickname for me is 'Tobe', which is short for Toby, which is how I said 'Trowbridge' when I was about 2 years old. We have this great recording of it where Jessica is teaching me how to say HER name. Of course. (Love you Jessica!) Jesse is actually great at coming up with all sorts of nicknames for me.
I have never been quite as creative when it comes to him... I don't know why, but I default to a dull 'babe' or 'honey'. I couldn't be less unoriginal about it, but there has never been a strong, organic event that spurred on a great nickname that stuck.
Then along came Sam. All of a sudden, nicknames are flying out of my mouth- we can hardly keep up with them. The first one that stuck was Squiggles. He was just so...... squiggly. We figured out it was the combination of squirm and wiggle and that it was the perfect nickname for him.
As these things do, his prominent nickname has changed several times, mostly revolving around a variation of Sam. There's Saminator, Samalam, Samalicious, Sambone, and the current favorite: Samathon. Samuel when he's in trouble. Which is never. Because he's 4 months old.
Then there's The Dude. We probably call him The Dude about 64% of the time right now. Jesse even likes to turn that a bit: Dudinator, Dudathon... you get the picture.
As I write this, we are watching him in his crib on the video monitor, scooting and turning and blabbing. I said to Jesse- he's so Squiggles again! That's the first time I've called him that in a couple of months and I have a feeling that it won't be the last.
Now for the real reason you're here... all two of you. An update: We went to his 4-month check-up two weekends ago. He was JUST under 15 pounds. FIF-TEEN POUNDS. Double his birth weight and just average at that. What's not average is his length which puts him in the 95th percentile of boys his age. He's long and lanky. Don't get me wrong- the boy has some rolls. But they have to work hard to be there and he's not gaining many from what I can see.
And finally.... a few pictures. Enjoy.
